Strategy:
Investment Plan
Four macro themes are reshaping China, and CSM seeks to take advantage of them.
- As China grows and urbanizes, it will develop a large and vibrant urban middle class. Demand will not only secularly increase, but will shift in myriad ways. CSM selectively invests in consumer goods and TMT.
- China faces an aging population. In addition, China will come into its own as a research powerhouse. CSM selectively invests in healthcare.
- China’s growth fuels its voracious appetite for raw materials, energy, and other resources. Environmental degradation and resource scarcity is the dark side of China’s rise. Accordingly, we invest in cleantech, energy, and resources.
- Finally, over half of China’s firms are aging, inefficient state-owned enterprises (SOE’s). One of China’s key challenges is to resuscitate them. We systematically identify the most promising firms, restructure them, and IPO. We especially focus on China’s leading firms in traditional industries, such as automotive, energy, transportation and manufacturing.
